In fact, we come in and out of a hypnotic state a number of times a day. One common example is Highway Hypnosis, when you are driving your car to work safely but have no conscious recollection of the journey.
During hypnosis, suggestions are easily made, instructing the subconscious mind to let go of bad habits. Thereby making desired goals possible.
